Diabetes Update:
We are almost at our 2 month mark(tomorrow) since diagnosis and things are going pretty well. We have adjusted insulin atleast 6-8 times...I've stopped counting...But Super Girl is still doing well with all the insanity that comes with Type 1 Diabetes. I recently read a Blog of a fellow mom of a diabetic child. She calls herself "WifeMomPancreas" and I found it frank and refreshing to hear about another mom with a recently diagnosed child and the struggles and triumphs she experiences. There is this one link on her page that I followed, and it was so perfect at describing the everyday struggle we have. It is from a mom with 3 diabetic children, her post called "Trying to Hit a Moving Target" will give you a glimpse into the life of a parent with a diabetic child. Her scenario is using a insulin pump, and we are still on syringe,so we have to add properly preparing the syringes, vials, and dosages to her scenario instead of punching a number into a pump, but she has to do this with 3 kids, not just 1! Anyway, if you REALLY want to understand life right now,PLEASE read her post,I can't word it any better than she did! Anyway, we tried our first insulin pen shot today, and Super Girl seemed to like the needle better (3 mm shorter that the syringes) but it was hard for her to hold down the inject button for the full 10 seconds necessary, so we will see what happens come school time when want her to be using an insulin pen. In case you are wondering what an insulin pen looks like, here it is...
You change the needle every use, but it just screws on and off.
The nice thing is you don't have to draw up the insulin, or worry about air bubbles, you just twist the dial (numbers on right side) until the proper dose is selected. Anyway, that's all for now!

Its been awhile since I've checked your blog, just took a peek today. I didn't know your lil one was diagnosed with diabetes! I know you will be able to keep it in check, she's got an awesome mommy to take care of her. So sorry to hear though, I know its gotta be tough to deal with. Anyway, just saying hi! What a cute family you have...
