Oh the Joys!!!

Well, Super Girl has done it again! She never ceases to amaze me at the variety of trouble and mischief she can get herself into! She is walking much better now, and if we don't put up the gate, she will climb up stairs in about 30 seconds! I finally gave in and decided to let her feed herself with a spoon (she's almost 1 after all). She has been feeding herself crackers adn other pick-up foods, but this was the first time I let her have a try at spoon feeding without me there to help...this was the result...

She was attempting to eat sweet potatoes if anyone was wondering! In other news, Super girl's hair is now long enough to put into 2 side ponytails (sort of) she looked so cute that I thought I'd post these pics too.

And here's our little mischief maker caught in the act! I can't believe how fast she can get up those stairs when she is motivated! In fact, if I catch her crawling toward the stairs, she speeds up, crawling faster toward the stairs (like I'm not going to be able to catch up to her in time!) Ha HaHa!!! She is SO FUNNY!

Up, Up, and Away!

We had the privilege this past weekend to attend a Hot Air Balloon Festival here in town. It was so amazing! The most amazing part was that I got myself and 2 kids up and out the door at 6:15am!!!!! We went to see the balloons launch at sunrise. They didn't quite make it at sunrise, it was more like 7:45am. The winds were not cooperating before then. But 4 balloons launched and another 6 (or so) just inflated and stayed on the ground. But it was so cool to see the whole process of how they set up these amazing balloons. The bottom picture out of the 3 on top here is a picture looking inside the balloon while it's being inflated on the ground (just in case you couldn't tell).

So that was Saturday morning. Then Saturday night they held a "glow" where the balloons all stay on the ground and just light up the balloons every time they send flames shooting into the massive balloon to keep it upright. IT WAS SO COOL!!!!! And not to mention BEAUTIFUL! We had such a great time.

Super Boy's favorite balloon was this HUGE PIGGY BANK!!! This photo was taken at the glow, this is the piggy's rear end! The balloon is owned by a local bank. They let kids touch it and climb under it while it was being deflated. It had a coin ready to "fall in" on top and was just an amazing sight. I ever got a great picture of it because I was being dragged here and there by Super Boy wanting to see this or that. We were slightly disappointed because it never left the ground, but we told the owners how cool it was, and that we hoped to someday see the day when pigs fly! They had a good laugh at that (probably out of pity, I'm sure they've heard that joke before!)

My favorite was the "glow". 2 or 3 balloons really lit up well, while the other (darker colored balloons) were harder to see when they were lit up. I hope you all enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed seeing this amazing sight! They say it was a 1st Annual event, so hopefully they'll do it again next year, and then I can invite anyone that lives close enough to come out too! Bye for now!

We Bought A Boat!!!!!

Talk about an eventful week! Not only did we have 2 sets of Gma's and Gpa's with us, we also bought a boat!!! We saw a deal and couldn't pass it up! So here are some pictures the old owner took of the boat (sorry I just haven't had the time or energy to take some of my own, and his are only a couple of days old!)
On the way to look at this boat, we were 2 cars behind a major accident on the highway. We saw a Big Rig plow straight into a cement barrier. His Rig immediately caught fire, but no one was hurt and we were able to stop in time and avoid another accident. We were in shock at what we had just witnessed, it was like watching a movie. But if we had been just 5 minutes later or a few second earlier, I don't think it would have been the same happy ending. We either would have been delayed and unable to buy the boat, or possibly injured or killed in a crash.
Life is precious! We are grateful we were kept safe and able to get an AWESOME BOAT!!!

Family Fun!

What a Week! We have been having SO MUCH FUN with Gma and Gpa visiting! We went to a candy factory to see how different candies are made...SO COOL! Definitely not a place that I could work (it would ruin candy for me! :) But very fun to go and see (and buy!) Everyone had to wear a hairnet (even Super Girl!) and we were SO FASHIONABLE!!! Then Super Boy got to have a special adventure with Gma and Gpa to an aquarium! His favorite part was getting his hand painted (after much coaxing and Gma doing it 1st!) Then they went out to lunch and had a indoor "dessert picnic" awhile after they came home. Super Boy spread a blanket on the ground and Gma and him at their dessert from lunch together! Great memories were made this week. Stay tuned for our next adventure...coming soon to a blog site near you!

Updates...

The kitchen upstairs is SO CLOSE to being DONE!!! Tall Boy finished the vent for the hood (I think) and Gpa hooked up the gas stove! Tall Boy even lit all the burners, and they worked! (We got this stove last year for free, and it has been sitting outside in our car port since then!) There was one burner that didn't work quite like the others, but hey, it was a free stove! All that's left is to hook up the electrical for the dryer, hook up the washer, and install a dryer vent. Someday we want to put cabinets over the washer and dryer, and make a mobile island with a butcher block top...but I have a hard time believing that those things will happen in the next 3 -6 months.

In other news, the other Gma and Gpa are going to be visiting for a week! Super Boy is SO EXCITED!!! He won't know what to do with himself! 4 people here...which one to play with first!? Hopefully he won't wear them out too much! We are SUPER excited and can't wait 6 more days...but we have to! We just hope we can pull the guest room together in time!

Super Girl is getting more confident, standing up for longer periods of time, and preparing to amaze us all when she just starts RUNNING one of these days! She still hasn't really taken any more steps, but why rush things? However, she has learned to climb our whole staircase! She doesn't like coming down, but she loves going up! She also loves to stand at the bottom of the stairs and yell "AT! AT! AT!" I think she likes the echo. Hopefully Gma and Gpa don't mind the yelling! Her 4 teeth on top are quite the sight. 2 are pretty much all the way in, and the other 2 will probably be all the way in a week from now...she's growing up SO FAST! I can't believe that I need to start thinking about her 1st birthday party! I am SO BEHIND on all of our scrapbooks!!! I hope I can catch up soon!

I hope I'll be getting a few more opportunities to scrapbook now that my church is starting a group that will meet once a month to scrapbook, make cards, crochet, do crafts etc etc. The first one is Aug 4th at my house from 7-9pm...I just hope I can get something done!

Speaking of getting something done, I really should get to work on the house...what's new right!? Until next time! BYE!!!

Super Girl on the move!

Well, the end is near...Super Girl took her 1st steps yesterday! She is also on the verge of sprouting 2 more upper teeth...her gums are broken, but the teeth haven't quite come through yet. Super Girl also amazed us with her amazing feat of climbing 1 stair! Like I said, the end is near! Soon it will be nothing but baby gates and child-proof (and sometimes adult-proof) locks on whatever she gets into! Wish us luck!

Construction Progress

We are slowly, but surely making a dent in the seemingly endless list of improvements we need to accomplish. We have installed some of the cabinets, counter top and sink in the kitchen. We even managed to run some electrical wires so we can FINALLY have ceiling fixtures in the front room! Hooray! A few more doors are painted and hung, but there are still more to do! Soon my life may slow down and get back to normal!

Camping Fun!

We decided to take a break from the construction zone and get away from the craziness! We took our camping trailer on it's maiden voyage. We went camping near a semi-local reservoir. We had to try several camping areas before we found one without bugs, and had shade too. We rode Gpa's 4-wheeler in the 1st place we tried, but the site we settled in didn't allow 4-wheelers. The place we settled in was a semi-shady, semi-bugless site, and travelled to be cool near the water. What a good decision! Super Girl and Super Boy loved the water, and all of the adults enjoyed the cool breeze and relaxing sound of the waves crashing on the shore. What a blissful way to spend a weekend!

4th of July

I love this holiday! We get to celebrate this wonderful nation that we live in...reflecting on our land of plenty and all our blessings...and then we get to light things on fire and watch them explode!!!!! (sorry, that's the tom-boy in me!) I found an outfit for Super Girl's 1st 4th of July, and it says "Super Girl" right on it! I had to get it of course! Gma and Gpa enjoyed the show, and then we sat back and watched as a bigger show lit up the sky nearby...partly due to neighbor's illegal fireworks, and partly due to a legal city firework show. We enjoyed all of the beautiful displays of light. We had steak, corn on the cob, garlic mashed potatoes and rounded off the night with strawberry shortcake...we were all in heaven! What a fun day!

D-day has come and gone!

Well, Gma and Gpa arrived safely...all the boxes have been moved in to the house, unpacking...that's a different story! My brother-in-law was kind enough to help Gma and Gpa move here AND refinish our hardwood floor in the Dining Room. It looks AWESOME!!! We still have lots to do, but the chaos has somewhat subsided. Super Girl has decided that 2 teeth on the bottom are just not enough and is attempting to cut 2 more on the top, however, both of them are on her left side...here comes SNAGGLETOOTH!!! But you know she will still be ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! Super Boy has been in 7th heaven with Gma and Gpa, and all the other family that has been here. He is always wanting to play games, and for the past couple of days he's had so many people to play them with! Well, I should get going...I'll try to keep you all updated...thanks for reading!

Super Girl!

My daughter is so much fun! She is generally happy, but she doesn't like being without her mommy. She LOVES her brother and loves it when he plays with her. She also loves being thrown in the air and being tickled. She is always looking to explore and sometimes that gets her in trouble! But her cute, little smile and her personality make it easy to forgive her. I can't wait to see how much more fun she will be when she is older. She loves bath time and splashing in the water. She will love it when Gma and Gpa move in and can play with her anytime they want (except when she's sleeping of course!) She loves to eat and is now feeding herself well. She too likes to help with the construction upstairs. She is fascinated my tools, cords, remotes and phones! Don't worry, we unplugged the drill!

Super Boy!

My son is my Super Boy! He is so great! He is really nice, sweet, fun and cute too! He can't wait to start Kindergarten and is already reading! He is also very excited to have Gma and Gpa come live with us. He is a wonderful big brother and is always looking out for his little sister. He loves playing games and just having fun in general. He loves to help around the house and especially with all of the construction we have been doing. He is a great hugger and a wonderful blessing to our family.

Introducing Scrap Happy Mommy!

Hello World! I have been informed that proper blogging etiquette and safety suggests that no real names be used. So I am introducing you to me and my family! I am Scrap Happy Mommy! I LOVE to scrapbook, but I don't always get the time to do any scrapbooking...you see, I have 2 great kids, Super Boy and Super Girl. They keep me VERY busy. And if it isn't them, than it's a home improvement project or a "Honey Do" list from Tall Boy! So, please sit back and enjoy my crazy life!

Construction vs. DESTRUCTION!!!

For those of you who are new to my life, we are in the last leg of remodeling the main floor of our home. We are preparing for my in-laws to move in. It has been insane! We have been ripping up everything and replacing it. We just got some BEAUTIFUL new carpet today and I am so excited to be finishing soon! Here are some fun pictures (fun to me, boring to some) of our progress! As you can see in the 1st photo, the kitchen is probably the worst off. The 2nd photo is of the yellow room, 3rd is our carpet, and 4th is my favorite...the blue room! The whole house is off-white with white trim except the yellow and blue rooms (per Tall Boy's demands). I have been painting for so long...I am ready to be done, but there is one room left, the dining room...so I'd better get back to it!
